The DataStar Migration Process
Invitations were sent to the main contact for all DataStar accounts for dual access to ProQuest Dialog in recent months. Customers who accepted the final opportunity for dual access can use ProQuest Dialog at no charge for the month of November. Access to DataStar will end November 30 and access to ProQuest Dialog will become billable on December 1.
Customers who did not elect a dual access period will migrate to ProQuest Dialog on December 1. Existing DataStar user IDs/passwords can be used to logon to ProQuest Dialog at that time. Details about preparing for migration are available on the administrators page and will be sent to the main contact for each customer prior to migration.
Working with Alerts and Saved Searches
DataStar alerts have been translated into ProQuest Dialog search syntax and reviewed by the customer support team. Starting mid-November, customers will receive Alerts from both legacy DataStar and ProQuest Dialog, giving an opportunity to compare results and tune profiles on ProQuest Dialog as needed. Customers can review and edit their new profiles on ProQuest Dialog when they start using the new service.
Saved searches will also be imported to the new ProQuest Dialog service with auto-translation, but will not be reviewed/edited by customer support. Customers will be able to review, edit or re-create their saved searches on the new service as needed.
Information about how to edit and manage your migrated alerts and saved searches can be found here.
