Dialog & ProQuest: What a year it’s been!
In July 2008, ProQuest announced that Dialog would join the ProQuest family. As we reach our one-year anniversary together, we look back at accomplishments from the last six months and forward to expectations for the future.
Here are just a handful of highlights.
- Introduced NewsRoom Plus, Dialog's provides thousands of global news sources, including video and Web offerings all in the same search. The easy-to-use interface enables the novice to quickly retrieve results, and an advanced search mode provides experienced searchers with tools to refine searches.
- Reinstated the monthly Chronolog with features like the Free File of the Month, new content, products and training opportunities, search techniques and analysis of content areas by subject specialists.
- Reinvigorated new content loading with 800 new journal titles to ABI/Inform® and Periodicals Plus, plus The Lancet® and new trademark files.
- Led the way with a pricing freeze in March to address the current economic situation and monthly smart searching ideas. Other pricing initiatives, including transactional pricing for CSA files and fixed-pricing plans like Dialog Choice, enable you to get Dialog and DataStar sources in the way that meets your needs.
- Enhanced Dialog eLinks with Open URL 1.0, enabling access to the fulltext of sources you subscribe to in approximately 100 Dialog and DataStar databases.
- And to cap this exciting year of new initiatives, Dialog signed a partnership agreement with Innography, a web-based visualization tool for analysis of Dialog's patent data which provides a unique way of viewing search results to uncover patterns and trends at a glance and made it easier to manage content through tools such as QUOSA and RefWorks.
